Volunteers at the Carnegie Heritage Centre

Volunteers can do various jobs around the centre such as helping people trace their family tree, research topics for books and booklets, research the local History of Hull as well as cataloguing Hull's War Heroes. Other jobs our volunteers do are giving talks to various groups around Hull, typing up peoples memories, scanning old photographs of Hull, cataloguing newspaper articles to put into our unique box files not to mention our wonderful cleaner, Pat, who keeps the place clean. We also have volunteers who sell publications on line, or attend book fairs in the area. If you have green fingers, we have a lovely garden to work in.

Volunteering at the Carnegie Heritage Centre

The Carnegie Heritage Centre is run and managed entirely by volunteers without whom we would not exist. We help each volunteer to identify their own interest whether it be research, cataloguing, helping with exhibitions, giving talks or any of the numerous tasks it takes to keep the resource centre vibrant and successful.

We ask our volunteers to commit to as many or as few hours a week as they can spare and we are always on the lookout for people with relevant skills relating to Local and Family history or people who are interested in gardening or even cleaning. Every little helps.

Here you see our volunteers at a Book Fair. These events are used as much to publicise the Carnegie Heritage Centre as to sell our new and second hand publications.

Flying the Flag for the Carnegie Heritage Centre

There are many ways we raise funds from publishing new books, holding exhibitions, taking stalls at various events to sell new and second hand books and selling surplus items on ebay and Amazon.

As a Registered Charity we can benefit from the Government's Gift Aid scheme managed by HM Revenue & Customs which will make the most of your donation.
