Cod and Communism

The Hull trawler Arctic Corsair, pictured in 2003.

Cod & Communism tells the story of the Humber fishing fleet's conflicts with Iceland over fishing rights between 1957 and 1977, and how these struggles were part of a much bigger, political struggle that was going on across Europe and the North Atlantic.

With contributions from fishermen and members of the Royal Navy who were there, and local historians, Cod & Communism is a fascinating insight into a unique period of the history of the Humber region when the Cod Wars and the Cold War met!
