Our aims are to protect and preserve the Carnegie building and to offer research and learning facilities to the general public.
The centre has an amazing wealth of data about Hull’s history and people’s memories of it.
Everyone is welcome to call in and see our resources.
Main Events
Tuesday & Friday 9.30 until 2.30 pm—Open House – pop in and see us with your Local History enquiries or research for your Family History.
Monday mornings during term time we hold 5 week Family History courses, at beginners or intermediate level. They start at10am and end at 12.30pm. See Whats On/Courses.
Monday afternoons throughout the year except bank holidays there is a family history helpdesk from 1pm to 3pm provided by the East Yorkshire Family History Society (EYFHS).
Carnegie talks are on the last Wednesday morning of the month but are not held during August or December. See the coming list of talks under Whats On/Talks. Talks cost £3.00 per person.
Other Events
Book Sales. We hold a second hand local history book sale at the centre most years on an ad hoc basis. These are usually held on Saturday mornings.
Book Sales. We regularly attend the annual local history book fair at Hull Minster in September.
Exhibitions. We hold at least two exhibitions a year where often these are held on Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 3pm.
The EYFHS are holding talks quarterly on the second Sunday afternoon in March, June, September and December. Doors open 1.30pm with the talk starting at 2pm.

Basic Family History course
We have 2 places left on the basic Family History course which starts on Monday 12th January at 10am. if you are interested please go to the shop and book a ticket.
